Hoooooo boy. Well. Hi. A lot has happened in the last 6 weeks.

I screened Contact, along with a rather excellent talk and book signing with Dr Jill Tarter, to a sold-out Hollywood Theatre. We closed surveys for the Movie Madness Kickstarter, and are just days away from shipping rewards. We announced the initial lineup for Bond, and put tickets on sale. And tomorrow, we'll finally announce the other event I'm producing this year.

I also cried in therapy for the first time. Not knowing what else to do, I rented a car and drove to Lake Tahoe for the holidays. I smacked my head on the coat rack by my front door while singing When I Needed You. I was convinced that I was going to die, celebrated that of course I wasn't, then immediately got food poisoning and threw up in a trash can at the movies.

I understand that what's on offer here, besides my sharing what I'm working on and talking more openly about my weird job, is some insight into me, the person. That's the whole premise of following people who's work you consume or appreciate on the internet, right? It's the work plus the person.

But I still don't really know how to do that. Or, I maybe intentionally forgot. A few years ago, when I lost someone and saw it play out on social media alongside tweets about mundane, arbitrary bullshit, it put me off bringing anything of any significance to those platforms ever again. I'm still unpacking that, and there's every chance that I'll conclude that to live a life out loud on the internet is just not for me. But I also see friends and people I admire practice it with apparent ease, and I see the warmth and support that it brings. I remember that, and maybe I could get back there.

This is all to say that a lot has happened in the last 6 weeks, and most of it has to do with the infinite complexity of being a person, and some of that got in the way of me showing up here. At the very least, I've got lots of new work to share, and I'll be back in the coming days with more updates. But maybe I'll also share a little more of me too, and maybe we'll see what happens.
